Bonded 3G – High Capacity Mobile Broadband

People want to be able to use technology to share, gather and publish information. They also want to distribute this information as quickly as possible. This is one of the reasons that Mobile connectivity has been so popular as it gives you the ability to share information as quickly as possible. However what happens when you are using an application that requires a high bandwidth or to support multiple users?  Is there a portable solution that can give you the connectivity you want while being able to supply sufficient bandwidth?

Anvil Mobile believes in providing connectivity solutions that really work for you, are easy to manage, easy to maintain and most importantly will supply the connectivity you need. That’s why we offer a bonded solution.

Of all the bonded options, 3G is probably the most groundbreaking. Up until now, companies requiring remote internet access, or even temporary access, have had to rely on satellite communications to be able to achieve anything like a workable solution. Satellite communication has improved over the years, but is still expensive and crucially still has the latency (delay) that causes so many applications to struggle.

By taking a number (up to 6) of Anvil SIM cards, users are able to utilise the bandwidth from each as a single connection, thus multiplying the available bandwidth by the number of SIMs in use. Typically we use SIMs from 3 separate operators in order to maximise the performance and reliability. All operators have occasional downtime and can suffer from bottlenecks when parts of the network are congested, however, using 3 separate networks mitigates the risk and provides the most robust service.

Anvil has a bonded solution provided as a managed service. This means customers don’t need to have two bonding devices e.g. one remote and one at head office. Aggregation servers within the network remove the need for two devices and just the remote device is all that is required. This saves on the cost of the equipment and maintenance and provides a connection that is constantly monitored and managed to provide a more reliable service.

3 Channel Solution - Portability – small form factor - Hot swappable modules - Rapid deployment

6 Channel Solution -Industrial unit - Up to 6 hot swappable modules - Ideal for broadcast video - Rapid deployment

Fixed IP Data SIM With Private APN

The fixed IP data SIM with a private APN is our flagship solution. There are lots of companies who provide data SIMs, but Anvil Mobile wanted to offer something different, something that would take data communication to the next level and give what we like to refer to as a business grade mobile broadband. Anvil knew that companies would want to use mobile data communications, but they would want the assurance that information that was sent would not be compromised and that the performance was as consistent as possible.

Anvil are able to provide a solution that meets those requirements. First of all we use a private Access Point Name (APN)  as this makes it more secure and also means that we don’t get the fluctuations in the performance experienced when sharing public APNs shared with consumers. Secondly we give the SIM a static IP address. This enables people or systems to connect over the 3G network to other devices or systems and can also be used to identify the SIM to provide a more secure access to the company's internal network.  Because we provide an uncontended private internet connection, no data is sent over the public internet.

Fixed IP in use

  • Enables remote management, monitoring and maintenance of servers and control systems. Examples of remote management include building control systems, wind, gas & hydro electric generators, remote IT support  for servers - basically anything with an IP address.
  • Provide security when used with 3G surveillance cameras for taxis, buses, care homes, farms, construction sites etc. to protect people and assets.
  • Provide back up to a broadband connection so that internet, intranet and VPN services can be maintained until the broadband is fixed and working again.
  • Provide back up to high speed leased lines using bonded 3G technology.
  • Provide high speed, high capacity links with Bonded 3G. Up to six 3G USIMs can be bonded to give 6 times the bandwidth into a single pipe. Ideal for transmitting and receiving large amounts of data, video and images.
  • Using the 3G mobile broadband network means that any site installation is quick and easy as cables are no longer needed for network connection.

Technical

  • 3G USIM on Three UK, Everything Everywhere and Vodafone Networks.
  • Fixed IP address from either private or public ranges.
  • Layer 2 connectivity with Layer 2 Tunnelling Protocol (L2TP) for highly secure, low latency connections.
  • Using private APNs means that businesses don’t share the major operator’s public APNs with consumers.

What are data SIMs all about?

More and more people are using data SIMs for all sorts of connectivity from simple things like being able to surf the web, to more complex things like remote management and mobile video broadcast. But are all data SIM’s the same? We’ll give you a brief rundown on what is available from Anvil Mobile  and in the coming weeks go into more detail on which S|IM is best for specific applications.

Anvil Mobile has multiple data SIM options. The reason for this is because different applications have different requirements, so a one size fits all approach just won’t work.

Fixed IP with private APN – We refer to this as our business grade mobile broadband connection. No data goes over the public internet. This means better security, performance and reliability. This SIM is used where a fixed IP address can be used to remotely access a connected device, a control system or a server.

Standard data SIM- dynamic IP – this is a standard data SIM great for lots of applications with a choice of data packages.

Low usage- If you need a connection which is only sending a very small amount of data e.g. 10-50 meg per month. The data is charged at less than 10p per megabyte

Bonded – If you need a high capacity mobile connection then look no further than our bonded solution. This bonds either 3 or 6 SIMs at once which makes it a great solution for mobile video broadcast or for locations where the user population is too large for a single SIM device.

4G is coming to the UK

We’re all getting very excited as it’s not long now until we are able to take advantage of the speed and capacity of 4G here in the UK. Everything Everywhere (EE) has managed to get a head start in the market as they’ll be able to provide a 4G connection to the consumer in a couple of months. The other operators will have to wait until next year before more spectrum is made available to allow them to start releasing 4G to their customers.

4G is the fourth generation of mobile communications standards. It is a successor of the third generation (3G) standards and often referred to as LTE (Long Term Evolution). 4G will offer super fast connection speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G connection. This will make internet access, downloads and multimedia applications dramatically faster and more user friendly.

Anvil Mobile will be at the forefront when it comes to bringing 4G connectivity to the UK market. We’ll be able to provide a 4G connection on the EE network in the very near future. Meantime we will be testing mobile devices for compatibility and performance to be ready to be one of the first to offer 4G solutions to businesses in the UK.
